Another month quickly passes us by

Today Cassidy is 8 months old!
She is still working VERY hard to crawl forwards, but nothing yet. She can roll over, go from sitting to stomach, and move about, just not crawl forwards yet.

Cousins Part II

A new look Cassidy has discovered in the last few days and now loves to make, scrunching up her nose. It's absolutely adorable.

We just returned from our weekend trip to Kasson, MN for cousins Part II. We got to have a relaxing weekend with the Schahls and Cassidy and Carly got some play time. This was Cassidy's first car trip longer than 2 hours (it was 6 hours in the car and she did very well).
Saturday morning pajama play time. Carly was nice enough to share her toys with us.
Just hanging out before we head out for a fun-filled day.
We went to Wabasha to the really cool toy store. There is this amazing carousel that is completely handcarved. It is $1 to ride it and Cassidy absolutely loved it. The carousel went much faster than we thought, but she giggled the entire ride. The people watching had a good time watching her laugh and smile.
In one part of the store Brian introduced Cassidy to puppets and she kindly shook the King's hand.
Carly loved the shopping cart and baby, she had some serious shopping to do so watch out.

Just taking a family picture before heading to lunch at this great ice cream and cheese place.
Sunday afternoon fun in the sun. We took advantage of the sun and played on the patio. Carly gave Cassidy a ride in her wagon and then I took them both for a ride. They enjoyed it.

Watch out this little one is serious about her driving. She may not be able to reach the ground yet, but she takes her driving seriously.

The Carousel Ride is below. Cassidy is gigling up a storm, and Carly is holding on for dear life.

Thanks to the Schahls' for hosting us, we had so much fun and can't wait until we get to visit again.

Cousins Part I

This past weekend we went to Dixon and Cassidy was able to see 3 of her 4.5 cousins. Part II next week will be posted after our trip to Minnesota to see the other cousin and a half (due in June). Only 2 of the Dixon cousins are shown here because the third one was too busy to be photographed and well she's 13 so sometimes the family is just not all that cool to hang out with. Maybe next time Ellie will pose for a picture with us.It was only after I uploaded our pictures that I noticed this hysterical face. What in the world is Cassidy thinking? I think she is right to be suspicious of her Aunt Jen though.
Isaac loves the piano at Gram and Bakka's house. He was very excited to show it to Cassidy, and she thinks Isaac is about the coolest thing since the invention of puffs (great baby cereal for those who don't know)
Gram and Bakka picked up this cool old wooden boat at a sale and weren't sure if the grandkids would like it. There is no doubt now, Isaac loves it and couldn't wait for Cassidy to visit so he could give her a ride. Here we posed a picture with Emily, Cassidy and Isaac.
Cassidy on the maiden voyage. She loved it and he loved pushing her around.
Emily and Cassidy playing together. Cassidy was trying to teach Emily that tummy time is fun. Here she is pushing her and telling her to knock of that crying.
"Ok Emily now this is my laptop, but if you're good I'll show it to you, but you have to be nice."
Isaac loved Cassidy's laptop and kept moving it farther away from her when she tried to push the buttons. Her favorite thing is to close it and Isaac wasn't a fan of that.
Cassidy can move across the floor, not crawling forward yet, but on her butt, backwards and lots of other interesting moves she can get from here to there. Here is her first experience getting to and discovering the cd stand....Hmm wonder if all those cd's might someday be taken off that stand?

Our little monkey meets real monkeys

This past weekend we went to the Gerken's and since the weather was warmer than it has been in months we took the opportunity to go to Brookfield Zoo. We weren't the only ones with that idea. We estimate that for every two people there was at least one stroller and there were lots of people at the zoo for it only being 45 degrees. We figure everyone was sick of being stuck inside all winter long like us.
Yes we are aware that those killer blue eyes are going to break many a heart someday. She loves daddy's Cubs hat!Playtime with Grandpa after the zoo, notice their bottles in the foreground of the picture, too funny. All bundled up and ready for her first trip to the zoo.
Brian, my wonderful scrapbook husband, took this picture so we can put it on the same page in Cassidy's scrapbook as a picture of a lion sleeping and the picture below
The fresh air proved to be great for napping; Cassidy took an almost 2 hour nap while the adults walked around and enjoyed the zoo. She did enjoy the beginning and the end of the zoo trip when she was awake. We love to visit the primate house. Here are two adorable apes hugging. I could watch them for hours, it's amazing how similar they are to humans. Brian explained to Cassidy that these were real monkeys like the ones in her story, "5 little monkeys jumping on the bed."
The trip back to Grandma and Grandpa's house-wide awake since she napped at the zoo. Her mom and dad however napped in the car.Cassidy loves to look at the sale flyers (they make lots of fun noise). Here she looks very excited about some sales in the Baby's RUs flyer.

Why a picture in a super duper warm winter hat, you ask????

Why of course because we're getting excited for our trip up north. Only 9 more sleeps-well a few more for Cassidy, but 9 for the adults until we go visit the Minnesota Schahl's. We are super excited because we haven't seen them since Christmas and we're sure Carly and Cassidy will have fun together. And this weekend we're going to visit the Kitson's and we haven't seen them since January, so Cassidy has lots to show off.
